Michael B. Maroney is a visionary leader in community and economic development with over four decades of transformative work in North and South Omaha. As President and CEO of the Omaha Economic Development Corporation (OEDC), Michael has spearheaded impactful initiatives in affordable housing, commercial revitalization, and small business enterprise. Under his leadership, OEDC has developed over 400 units of affordable housing, expanded retail and commercial infrastructure, and launched job-creating ventures such as a telemarketing firm and a community-based grocery store. His work reflects a deep commitment to empowering historically underserved communities and creating long-term, sustainable growth.
Prior to his current role, Michael co-founded and led the New Community Development Corporation, where he developed more than 250 affordable housing units and launched Omaha’s first micro-business training and lending program—supporting over 800 entrepreneurs and catalyzing the creation or retention of more than 200 jobs. His background also includes leadership roles at United Methodist Community Centers, Charles Drew Health Center’s predecessor, and two small businesses of his own. Michael holds an MBA and a BA in Urban Studies from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and actively serves on several boards, including Girls Inc., Omaha 100, and the Mildred D. Brown Memorial Study Center. |
