Michael has spent nearly 40 years in the non-profit arena including affordable housing, community revitalization, business and commercial development with more than 20 of those years as CEO. Currently he serves as the President/CEO of the Omaha Economic Development Corporation, the oldest Community Development Corporation (CDC) in Omaha. Michael provided leadership in the development of the North Omaha Village Revitalization Plan that was recently adopted by the City Council and became part of the city’s overall master plan.
Provide leadership in the organization and continue to expand its efforts in community development and neighborhood revitalization. Activities include the development of affordable housing and the expansion of the Long School Market Place, a 23,000 sq.ft. retail shopping center. Responsibilities also include an additional 60,000 sq.ft. of commercial retail space and more than 400 units of multi-family rental housing. Also under Maroney’s leadership OEDC has created and invested in several business enterprises including a Telemarketing Firm which has created over 150 jobs for local residents with the potential to create over 250 jobs, the Fair Deal Village Market Place which includes a community based healthy food grocery store and is currently working with one of Omaha’s largest employers to bring an additional 150 jobs to the community. Michael is a lifelong resident of North Omaha and has a Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Studies and a Masters Degree in Business Administration. |
